??The position is charged with assisting municipal representatives with public presentations and coordinating public information utilizing a variety of media strategies.
??This position is under the general supervision of the City Manager, or his/her designee.
??Works closely with Administrative staff and departments to develop media and public information messages;
??Creates written communications including web site content, advertising copy, press releases, promotional and marketing materials;
??Creates and monitors social media;
??Writes, edits and proofreads copy for a variety of media strategies, including print, video, television, etc;
??Develops and maintains positive working relationships with media;
??Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to communicate Town goals, objectives and results;
??Advises Administration on matters related to communications and public relations;
??Effectively, creatively and innovatively crafts, implements and maintains the organizational public relations materials and messaging;
??Develops presentation materials, including print, graphic, and audio-visual, to be used by various departments and municipal representatives
??Performs other duties as assigned.
??Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
??Strong creativity and energy to facilitate successful public relations strategies and marketing;
??Ability to analyze and make sound recommendations on public affairs and community relations issues;
??Experience developing and implementing organizational public relations, community relations and project communications vision;
??Knowledge of emerging trends in the field of communications, including use of new technologies and social media;
??Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, media and the public;
??Ability to collect, compile and assemble information in a clear, concise manner;
The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in government public information or private sector public relations, marketing, media relations, journalism or a related field.? A Bachelor?s Degree majoring in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field is preferred.
