auto insurance-Mount Vernon | WPRW Radio

auto insurance Mount Vernon OH Every year, more cars and drivers hit the highways. With countless cars on the road, crashes will happen. Automobile insurance can be the difference between a minor setback and a major hassle. But why do you need insurance and just how much should you buy? Auto insurance protects you by covering the cost of damage caused to your car or another person?s car and injury to others, yourself, or your passengers, plus specific other occurrences, such as theft. Automobile insurance is mandated by law in all states and provinces. Without insurance, you risk having to pay the full price of any harm you cause others or of repairing or replacing your car if it is damaged or stolen.Pays for damages due to bodily injury and property damage to others for which you are responsible. Bodily injury damages include medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. Property damage includes damaged property and loss of use of property. If you are sued, it also pays your defense and court costs. Higher recommended insurances are available that cover more than the lower, state-mandated insurance. Personal injury protection: This is required in some states and is optional in others. It pays you or your passengers for medical treatment resulting from a crash, regardless of who may have been at fault, and is often called no-fault coverage. It may also pay for lost earnings, replacement of services and funeral expenses. State law usually sets minimum amounts. Medical payments: This type of coverage is available in non-no-fault states and will pay no matter who is responsible for the accident. It pays for an insured person?s reasonable and necessary medical and funeral expenses for bodily injury from a crash. Collision: Pays for damage to your car caused by a collision. Comprehensive: Applies if your car is stolen or damaged by causes other than collision, including fire, wind, hail, flood or vandalism. Uninsured motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is injured in a crash caused by another person who does not have liability insurance or by a person who cannot be identified (usually a hit-and-run driver). Under-insured motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is injured in a crash caused by another person who does not have enough liability insurance to cover the full amount of the damages. Other coverage, such as emergency road service and car rental, is also available.Your auto insurance payments vary by company and will depend on several factors, including: * What coverage you select * The make and model of the car you drive * Your driving record * Your age, sex and marital status and * Where you live Many people think of auto insurance as a necessary evil, but it can save your financial well-being. Evaluate your needs, do your research and with the support of your insurance agent make the decision that best suits you. Protect your Family

Bowers & Wilkins P3

Bowers & Wilkins, the hi-fi and pro-audio manufacturer responsible for multi-thousand dollar monitoring systems in recording studios across the world, is now several products into its far more affordable?but still quite expensive?consumer audio line. The P3 is its latest offering, a pair of headphones designed for mobile use. At $199.99 (direct), it fits somewhere in between the C5 In-Ear Headphones ($179.95, 4.5 stars) and the P5 Mobile Hi-Fi Headphones ($299.95, 4.5 stars)?the former of which is an in-canal earphone pair. The P3, which comes with built-in iPhone controls, provides a pleasantly resonant low frequency response that is more subtle than the C5. It also has less emphasis on high frequencies than either of the previous B&W models, resulting in a slightly less crisp response. Regardless, it sounds excellent and is a standout in this price range.

Design
Taking design cues from its older (and more expensive) sibling, the P3 has rounded rectangular ear-cups similar to those on the P5. The primary difference here is the use of cloth instead of leather for the earpads and the headband cushion. The top of the band and outside of the cups are a black, rubberized material?but the headphones are also available in white. B&W P3 inline white

Bowers & Wilkins describes the cloth used as "bespoke acoustic fabric" ideal for acoustic transparency, while underneath there is a layer of heat-sensitive memory foam that slowly molds itself to the shape of your ear for better sealing and comfort. Indeed, the P3 can be worn for hours without much fatigue, despite snug pressure on the ear (which actually helps block a small amount of ambient noise from the outside world). As for the sealing, this may improve the listener experience, but the P3, due to its supra-aural (on-ear) design, leaks quite a bit of sound. If you monitor at moderate-to-high volumes, anyone near you can likely hear a bit?or a lot?of whatever you're listening to.

iPhone controls and a microphone are built into the cable, which has a narrow 3.5mm jack that easily fits most iPhone cases. The mic works just fine, and the remote's buttons allow for playback and volume control. There are no accessories for the headphones however, except for a black, hard shell protective case that the P3 folds down flat into.

Performance
The best way to describe the P3's response in comparison to previous B&W offerings: subtle. There is ample bass response, but it's more refined than intense. The extremes?deep lows and higher frequencies?are dialed back a bit in comparison to both the C5 and P5. The end result is a sound signature that feels weighted towards the middle frequencies?something kind of rare in the era of booming bass and tweaked treble to match it. This focus on mids sounds best on classical and instrumental tracks, like John Adams' "The Chairman Dances" or Bernard Herrmann's Psycho film score, allowing middle-register strings to take centerstage without ignoring lower frequency percussive hits.

Deep bass tracks like The Knife's "Silent Shout" sound powerful withut feeling overly boosted, and there's never any distortion, even at maximum volume?but hopefully, you're not listening that loud, regardless. Bill Callahan's unique baritone vocals on his latest record, Apocalypse, lack the bite that a more tweaked treble would provide, instead sounding a bit more smoothed around the edges, more deep than crisp. It's a great sound, but some listeners may feel that there's a bit of definition missing on certain genres.

It comes down to personal preference?no one is going to listen to the P3 and think these headphones sound bad, but particularly fans of rock or vocal-heavy music may want a bit more treble presence. Even though the deep bass is not a booming presence, either, the low-mids are an area of emphasis that makes low register strings, basses, and deeper vocals seem particularly resonant, even at modest volumes.

If crisp, brighter audio is your preference, it might be worth considering a pair of in-canal earphones from Etymotic instead?the Etymotic ER-4PT ($299, 4.5 stars) is an industry standard for flat response, but its lack of booming bass naturally lends itself to a crisper overall sound. If you're determined to stick with headphones, but still want a bit more high frequency presence and less low-end, the more affordable Shure SRH550DJ ($125, 3.5 stars) is a solid option. Of course, for the low frequency fiends out there, the P3's smooth low-end may not be enough, but the Denon AH-D1100 ($199.99, 4.5 stars) will deliver in this regard, without going into gratuitous bass territory. If you have a bit more money to spend, both the aforementioned P5, and the even pricier Shure SRH1440 ($399.99, 4 stars) are highly recommended?the Shure model, in particular, finds a beautiful balance between lows and highs, and is ideal for professional or critical listening. Bowers & Wilkins, however, continues to deliver in the headphone and earphone market?the P3 is the least sculpted sound signature of its three models, and is fairly priced when you consider performance, power, and features.

(AP) ? Egyptian presidential candidate Ahmed Shafiq paid tribute Saturday to the "glorious revolution" that toppled Hosni Mubarak, a dramatic turn-around for the former regime official who fought his way into the runoff elections by appealing to public disenchantment with last year's uprising.

Shafiq, the last prime minister to serve under Mubarak, vowed there would be no "recreation of the old regime" as he prepared to face off against Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood in a runoff on June 16-17.

"I am fed up with being labeled 'old regime,'" Shafiq told a news conference in his campaign headquarters. "This talk is no longer valid after seven million people voted for me." When pressed on the issue, he said: "All Egyptians are part of the old regime. Why do you keep saying the same thing over and over again?"

Shafiq and Morsi were the top vote-getters after a two-day election on Wednesday and Thursday which none of the 13 candidates could win outright. Now, both must appeal to the roughly 50 percent of voters who cast ballots for someone else.

Shafiq appeared to use the news conference to try and cast off his image as an anti-revolution candidate who spoke disparagingly about the youth groups that engineered the anti-Mubarak uprising, reaching out to all segments of society in a bid to rally voters who favored his rivals during the first-round.

A former air force commander and a personal friend of Mubarak's, Shafiq was booted out of office by a wave of street protests shortly after Mubarak stepped down on Feb. 11, 2011.

The 15 months since Mubarak's ouster have seen a surge in crime, a faltering economy and seemingly endless street protests, work stoppages and sit-ins. The disorder has fed disenchantment with the revolutionary groups, and may have played to Shafiq's advanatge.

However, ex-officer Shafiq is also associated with Egypt's military leadership. The generals who took over from Mubarak, say critics, have mismanaged the transitional period and failed to reform corrupt institutions or to provide security.

Furthermore, they are blamed for the death of more than a hundred protesters, torturing detainees and trying before military tribunals at least 12,000 civilians.

"I pledge to every Egyptian that there will be no turning back and no recreation of the old regime," said Shafiq, 70. "Egypt has changed and there will be no turning back the clock. We have had a glorious revolution. I pay tribute to this glorious revolution and pledge to be faithful to its call for justice and freedom."

Shafiq also tried to enlist the support of youth groups, singling out the large associations of soccer fans known as "ultras" and April 6, both of which played a key role in the uprising.

His outreach was swiftly rejected by April 6, whose spokesman Ahmed Maher told a news conference that his group will never talk to the former prime minister, whom it considers as a pillar of the Mubarak regime.

He paid special tribute to Hamdeen Sabahi, a socialist and a champion of the poor who finished in third place. He held out the possibility of naming him as his deputy if elected president.

Morsi's Brotherhood, meanwhile, has called for a meeting of the nation's political forces to "deal with the challenges facing the nation" ? a thinly veiled attempt to enlist support for its candidate.

More than a year after protesters demanding democracy toppled Mubarak, the face-off between the Morsi and Shafiq looked like a throwback to his era ? a rivalry between a military-rooted strongman promising a firm hand to ensure stability and Islamists vowing to implement religious law.

The head-to-head match between them is the most polarized outcome possible from the first round, and will likely lead to a heated campaign. Each has die-hard supporters but is also loathed by significant sectors of the population.

The first round race turned out close. By Friday evening, counts from stations around the country reported by the state news agency gave Morsi 25.3 percent and Shafiq 24.9 percent with less than 100,000 votes difference.

A large chunk of the vote ? more than 40 percent ? went to candidates who were seen as more in the spirit of the uprising that toppled Mubarak, that is neither from the Brotherhood nor from the so-called "feloul," or "remnants" of the old autocratic regime that Shafiq is considered one of.

In particular, those votes went to leftist Hamdeen Sabahi, who narrowly came in third in a surprisingly strong showing of 21.5 percent, and a moderate Islamist who broke with the Brotherhood, Abdel-Moneim Abolfotoh.

One tool to Help Mothers Purchase their Lives
Review of Orderly Days to weeks from Kate Conway in addition to Motherhood Press
By Lisa M. Hendey

Typically by this time from the year, calendars and planners are marked down to half price and the majority moms have given up on yet another set regarding New Year?s resolutions, including the perennial favorite anyone to get their lives organized. Thankfully, this year there is really a new tool in the marketplace that will help revolutionize the homes and spiritual lives of several families.

The Orderly Days planner, by Kate Conway and also Motherhood Press, provides a new perspective in time management. The first thing you?ll notice whenever you receive your Orderly Days planner would be the small Rosary ring clipped to the inside of the three ring binder containing the planner. Conway?s introduction for the actual planner sets the tone with the tool, stating that her goal is always to provide a ?traditions day planner that helps you organize your life the way in which God intended ? in the proper and orderly method. ?

The Orderly Days planner logo comes with a gracefully drawn images, and uplifting fonts, artwork and scriptural sources are sprinkled throughout. The planner is compact enough to fit in a purse, diaper bag, or to sit neatly at the desk. The Personal Data again reinforces the increased exposure of spirituality, by including important parish make contact with and schedule information among the other high priority items like name, address and emergency associates.

Kate Conway expresses the aim of helping women establish a ?God-focus? in their lives, enabling all else to fall under place. She gently reminds us to show to Mary as a task model and intercessor, and lends an ecumenical spirit for the planner through her invitation to women of other faith traditions.

Proving that this planner has staying power, the calendar section includes annual, moveable feasts and secular holidays through 2007. Other important features such as a cross section of prayers, prayer request lists and prayer prompts and numerous printed and internet faith based reference guides. Each week features some sort of ?weekly goals? worksheet that provides the user the opportunity to ponder and prioritize the following areas: spiritual growth, home and family, development of spiritual treats, physical goals, ministry to others and also financial goals.

Countless other special features abound in the Orderly Days planner, but I would propose it most highly for the emphasis on placing a higher priority on building and maintaining a compelling relationship with God, and letting the advantages of that friendship rule and enhance other areas of our home and family life.

News: Seychelles strengthens ties with South Africa

Minister Xasa was greeted at the Seychelles stand by Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture.

Minister Xasa was accompanied by the Chairman of SA Tourism and other high-level South African tourism officials. At the Seychelles stand, it was an opportunity for Minister St.Ange to remind the South African dignitaries of the exceptional beauty of the tropical islands of the Seychelles now fast becoming the new destination for South African holidaymakers. Minister Alain St.Ange also took the opportunity to update Minister Tokozile Xasa and her delegation that Air Seychelles had now confirmed to increase its weekly service to Johannesburg to 4 flights as from January 2013.

?Seychelles has always been the dream holiday tropical island for South Africans,? Minister St.Ange said to press in South Africa after the visit to the Seychelles stand at INDABA. ?We remain a top destination for big game and fly-fishing enthusiasts from South Africa. In Seychelles, when you go fishing, you catch fish, and this the South African fishermen just love,? the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said.

Earlier the same day, the Seychelles Minister St.Ange had met with the South African Minister responsible for Tourism, Mr. Marthinus Van Schalkwyk. The two Ministers discussed cooperation between their two countries and the coming Routes Africa conference due to be held in Seychelles in July. Minister Van Schalkwyk is one of the ministers from Africa who has been invited to address Routes AFrica alongside the Seychelles Minister responsible for Internal Affairs&Transport, the Zimbabwe Minister for Tourism, the President of La Reunion, and the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines among other industry leaders and professionals.

New telescope to be in South Africa, Australia

AMSTERDAM (AP) ? A giant radio telescope made up of thousands of separate dishes and intended to help scientists answer fundamental questions about the make-up of the universe will be built and based in both Australia and South Africa, the international consortium overseeing the project announced Friday.

The Square Kilometer Array telescope will be 50 times more sensitive and scan the sky 10,000 times faster than any existing telescope. Not a long tube with an eye piece, the telescope is instead a huge collection of dishes with a combined surface area of one square kilometer (0.39 square miles) that don't all have to be in the same place.

John Womersley, chair of the consortium's board, said the telescope will help scientists answer key questions: "Where do we come from? Where are we going? What is this universe we live in?"

"We don't understand what 96 percent of our universe is made of," he said.

The organization, made up of scientific organizations from around the world, said in a statement that dividing construction of the telescope will "maximize on investments already made by both Australia and South Africa."

The decision appeared to be a compromise as Australia and New Zealand had been vying with South Africa for the honor of hosting the ?1.5 billion ($1.88 billion) telescope, which will be made up of some 3,000 separate 15-meter (49-foot) diameter dishes.

Most of the dishes built in the first phase of construction, scheduled to start in 2019, will be in South Africa, the organization said.

Womersley said that splitting construction between the two nations will likely add around 10 percent to the ?350 million ($439 million) cost of the first phase of building the giant telescope.

But he said there would be a pay-off for astronomers.

"It delivers more science in phase one. The capabilities of this instrument are greater than the original design," Womersley said.

South Africa's science minister, Naledi Pandor, said the decision to split the project, with one of three components in Australia and the remaining two in Africa, was a surprise. She said an assessment had shown Africa was the best site, and that the goal had been to find a single site.

But, she added, "we accept the compromise in the interest of progress and as an acknowledgement, we believe of the sterling work done by our scientists and the excellent SKA team."

Australia's bid also involves building some parts of the telescope in New Zealand.

All three countries offer the kind of terrain radio telescopes need to work best ? huge open spaces with very few humans.

Australian government representative Patricia Kelly said the remote site in Western Australia state is about the size of the Netherlands and has a population of 300 people.

Michiel van Haarlem, Interim Director General of the SKA Organisation, said the telescope "will transform our view of the universe. With it we will see back to the moments after the Big Bang and discover previously unexplored parts of the cosmos."

SpaceX Dragon set for rendezvous

The SpaceX company's Dragon cargo capsule is expected to join up with the International Space Station (ISS) inthe coming hours.

Nasa has cleared the unmanned vehicle to move in close to the orbiting platform after a successful series of demonstrations on Thursday.

SpaceX is attempting to become the first commercial concern to run a freight service to the ISS.

Dragon carries half a tonne of food and spares for the 400km-high laboratory.

Astronauts onboard the station will try to grab the ship with a robotic arm once it gets within reach.

The crewmen will then berth the vessel to a free port on the underside of the platform.

"Dragon's 'go' for berthing day," said SpaceX mission director, John Couluris, on completion of Thursday demos.

And Holly Ridings, the Nasa flight director overseeing the SpaceX mission, added: "We had a very successful day, a great day in space; and certainly from the Nasa side we're excited about how the mission is going so far."

Dragon was launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on Tuesday.

It has spent the intervening period raising its orbit closer to the altitude of the ISS.

Thursday's tests required Dragon to show off its guidance, control and communications systems at a distance of just 2.5km from the station.

The operations were required by Nasa to prove the new vehicle's responsiveness.

Astronauts Don Petit and Andre Kuipers, reported seeing Dragon moving below them, and were even able to send a command to the capsule to turn on a strobe light.

Unlike the Russian and European robotic freighters that drive all the way into docking ports on the ISS, Dragon merely has to position itself in a zone 10m under the platform to be captured by the Canadarm2. It will be Petit who will be at the arm's controls to make the capture and berthing on Friday.

Ms Ridings, speaking at the Johnson Spaceflight Center in Houston, Texas, cautioned reporters that there was still much to be done: "This is a demonstration flight; a test flight, as we've been saying.

"To get through [Thursday] obviously makes you feel positive, but in terms of the activities for Friday, there's still a lot of really new things that the teams need to perform."

She stated that attachment to the station would probably occur around 10:30 CDT (15:30 GMT; 16:30 BST).

To date, only government-owned and operated vehicles have approached and docked with the space station.

The Dragon mission is part of Nasa's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (Cots) programme which was established to help shift some of the agency's traditional roles and activities into the private sector.

The agency is providing seed funding of approximately $800m to SpaceX and another company, Orbital Sciences Corporation, to enable them to develop new rocket and cargo vehicles.

Orbital's rocket is called Antares, and its freighter is known as Cygnus. The pair should go into space together for the first time before the end of the year.

Once the companies have reached the milestones laid out under Cots, lucrative ISS re-supply contracts will kick in.

Watch Tuesday's launch from Cape Canaveral

For SpaceX, this is valued at $1.6bn (?1bn) and calls for a minimum of 12 Dragon missions to the ISS.

By buying in transportation services from the commercial sector, Nasa hopes to save money it can then spend on more challenging exploration ventures far beyond Earth, at asteroids and Mars.

Freight is just the first service to be contracted out. The ferrying of crews to and from the ISS will be next.

SpaceX wants this business as well, and is developing the safety and life-support systems that would allow Dragon to double up as an astronaut taxi.

The website DogVacay debuted in New York and Los Angeles in March and, just in time for the summer travel season, is now available throughout the United States and Canada.

The site's vacation deal: Pet owners can look up hosts in their area who will care for a dog in their own homes, giving a pet the food, exercise and attention you would give if you stayed home ? sort of a doggy version of couch-surfing, for an average price of $25 to $30 a day.

Hosts are checked out and interviewed by DogVacay and every owner and dog is encouraged to meet the host.

The Santa Monica-based company was founded by Aaron and Karine Nissim Hirschhorn. In two months it has grown to over 4,000 hosts in two countries and from five employees to 13, Hirschhorn said.

Valerie Steiger's Shih Tzu mix named Joey was just 3 months old when she had to leave for a two-week Thailand trip in February. Joey has been back four or five times since, said Steiger, whose job as a life coach keeps her on the road.

Her host has a couple of dogs and Joey enjoyed them so much, he was depressed when he got home and didn't have any playmates, Steiger said.

"She was wonderful. I was talking to Joey (through a cell phone app) from Thailand. She took pictures of Joey on an iPhone, she took a video of him zipping around with his buddy. I didn't ask for any of that. She just did it," Steiger said.

Steiger has used kennels in the past. And there are good ones, she said, but dogs are still kept in crates or cages for several hours each day. "It's like they are in jail."

Knowing where her dog is and what he's doing is important to her because "this is my baby. I'm leaving my baby behind," Steiger said.

Hirschhorn and his fiance went on a trip to visit family in 2010 and left their dogs Rocky and Rambo in a kennel. "Rocky came back a little off. She was not acting herself. She was sheepish and hiding under the desk. She is normally a happy, happy dog," he said.

There had to be something better, they said. They let everyone know they were going to start dog sitting. "Business was booming. We got multiple calls a day," he said. They watched more than 100 dogs during eight months.

At the end of their experiment, they had two things: enough money to pay for their 2011 wedding and a business model. They quit their day jobs, joined forces with former MySpace CEO Mike Jones to create an online community and raised $1 million in venture capital.
